We as well as businesses both are amidst transition from Class Room interventions face to face to hybrid models or completely remote models for – virtual or online delivery.
Trainings as much possible is redesigned, restructure and simplified for New Normal post-pandemic models Vs our regular models followed earlier.

In certain cases these alternative models were already existing but were always second choice over regular models due to clients and their candidate`s preferences, their pre-disposed comfort zone of usual delivery methods they were usually accustomed to and their perceived reservations against efficacy level of distant training models.

  • The nature and level of complexity in interventions/ subject area
  • Diverse level of target audience group
  • The over-all effectiveness, will decide about the training model to be 100% virtual/online or the % of direct face to face interventions necessary to be adopted in the suggested training model to make it effective and useful.

While the organizations with serious outlook towards Training and Learning & Development were already advancing for complete- Agile learning culture, the current need for social distancing and remote working has just not accelerated this but in fact these organizations have swiftly found themselves having to transform and deliver what was once live, in-person, instructor-led training (ILT) seemingly overnight into online formats.

Some training has always been online: self-paced, accessible anytime, anywhere, however, some training that was once face-to-face instructor led now has to be delivered online/ virtual.

This brought in a profound impact on training design for the new normal,

  1. Presentation format best suitable for live instructor-led classroom may not be as effective in the online / virtual training and the same hold good for a particular instructor.
  1. Assessments or the measurement of learning requires different approach in Virtual Vs Live face to face, in case of virtual it may be better to do these assessments with more time gap after the sessions.
  1. Transition requirements of one instructor led training to virtual may entirely differ from another.
  1. All participants in the training may not be equally tech savvy and so their response time may also differ.

The training delivery would drastically change it will demand more visuals and downloads followed by each presentation, to make these trainings effective a more enhanced participants engagement styles need to be adopted. However, with a focus on engagement and effectiveness, strong control of the platform, presentation, and communications channels during the session is key.
